Kids Golf Foundation
Kids Golf Foundation - Golf Changes Kids' Lives!

Events

Each year the Kids Golf Foundation of Illinois creates or participates in various special events and activities. These special events and activities allow the Foundation to provide unique opportunities for kids and Site Coordinators. They also help the Foundation create and maintain relationships with allied associations and create awareness of our programs and Foundation. Finally, special events and activities provide a way for volunteers and Site Coordinators to be identified or give back to the Foundation.

Other Side Of The Green
The Other Side Of The Green pairs a male business professional with a young male Kids Golf participant between the ages of 11 and 17 in a 9-hole golf scramble and mentoring activity. The Other Side Of The Green is meant to teach young boys how they can use the sport of golf as a vehicle to enhance their future career; its a great way for boys to not only play golf, but to also further discover what they want to be when they grow up. In order to have a chance at participating in the event, boys are nominated by their Site Coordinator. The Business Professionals are carefully selected based on the Kids Golf participant's career interest.
The Springer Cup
In honor of the late Don Springer, the Kids Golf Foundation has developed a unique version of The Solheim Cup for our sites to participate in. This event is an educational weekend intended to help sites understand what the tour professionals experience during their tournament. This annual event consists of three days of activities in which teams will participate in several new formats of play, team-building activities, an educational field trip and more. The Springer Cup, like The Solheim Cup, is based on sites qualifying to participate by accumulating points over a calendar year.
Illinois Foundation Challenge
Both the SNAG and Traditional Skills Challenge participants will test their skills at four stations. Champions will be crowned at each station as well as an overall champion being named for both the SNAG and Traditional challenges. This event is held annually and is intended to be fun and stress free. The Kids Golf Foundation will hold a picnic for the participants and their guests at the conclusion of the skills challenges. Any kid that has participated in at least one Kids Golf Foundation program is eligible to participate.
The Playing Series
The Playing Series has been designed to provide junior golfers with opportunities to learn while playing on the course with supervision. It also gives them increased exposure to how the rules and etiquette of golf are applicable in playing situations, increased exposure to course management strategies, specialty shots and trouble shots that the kids might not otherwise practice. The Playing Series provides participants with increased golf self-esteem and awareness which fosters their desire to continue learning and playing the game of golf.
Traditions of Golf Challenge
The Traditions of Golf Challenge is an annual three-day event that is held in different locations across the United States and Mexico. The Traditions of Golf Challenge brings together eight-member Hook A Kid On Golf teams from all over the United States and Mexico to compete in three areas of competition. Teams are scored on playing ability, etiquette and knowledge of rules and history. Each team's score from their round is combined with their "Traditions of Golf' score to determine the overall champion of the two-day tournament.
