SUGAR GROVE, IL – The Kids Golf Foundation of Illinois is excited to announce that Chicago-based Wilson Sporting Goods will be working with them to help grow the game of golf. Starting this summer, Wilson will be providing more than 500 participants of the Foundation’s Level 2: Traditional Clinics with a set of golf clubs, golf balls and golf tees.

“We truly value what the Kids Golf Foundation is all about and are excited to be a part of introducing the next generation to this great game,” said Doug Theil, Director of Marketing for Wilson Golf.

Level 2: Traditional Clinics are introductory golf clinics that can be run by anyone with training by the Kids Golf Foundation. It teaches basic swing fundamentals, as well as the rules, history, etiquette, and life lessons of golf. Life lessons include such important topics as honesty, integrity and sportsmanship. Besides Wilson brand golf clubs, balls and tees, the participants also receive a Kids Golf Foundation bag tag, polo shirt and hat.

“I am thrilled that a brand like Wilson, which is known all over the world, is interested in helping [the Kids Golf Foundation] with our mission,” said Michala Mika, Director of the Foundation. “We want to instill a lifelong passion for golf in our participants, one that encourages them to grow both personally and even professionally. What better way than by providing them with a top-of-the-line set of clubs so they can continue to play after the clinic has ended?”

Wilson Staff, the golf division of Wilson Sporting Goods, is well known for outfitting many of the world’s top professional golfer, such as Sam Snead and Arnold Palmer. Current Wilson Staff players include British Open and USPGA champion Pádraig Harrington, as well as Kevin Streelman. Its line of irons has more majors won than any other brand, with players using Wilson Staff clubs to win a total of 61 majors.

“Wilson has been in the sporting goods business for many years and we are happy that they are partnering with the Kids Golf Foundation,” said Mary Timm, a Site Coordinator with the Kids Golf Foundation. “We are so excited to receive equipment from a company that makes such exceptional products!”

Besides providing equipment, Wilson can also open doors to new opportunities for the Foundation.

“The golf clubs are just the beginning,” said Mika. “I’m excited for what’s in store.”
